Interview With A Repeater Student

Question 1: Write down your Short interview. (Name, city, etc…)

Answer: My name is Muhammad Usman Ilyas. I am from district Hafizabad.

Question 2: you consider yourself as:

Answer: Average

Question 3: Your FSc Marks?

Answer: 1026

Question 4: Did you improve FSc marks?

Answer: No

Question 5: You are utilizing one/two extra years of life. why are you so passionate about MBBS?

Answer: My belief is that Allah has sent everybody in this world for a purpose. Mostly people don’t understand that what is their actual purpose for being in this world. So, they come in this world, they eat, they drink, they marry, they produce babies, and then they die. Nobody remembers them afterwords. I never wanted to live such a useless life. I want myself to be remembered even after my death. You will think that I just want fame but I didn’t mean to say that. I just want to do a few such things that will have an impact on this world even after my death.
Actually my belief is that the purpose of my creation is to serve the humanity selflessly, just like Abdul Sattar Edhi and many more such noble people. But when I thought about it about 3 years ago that how can I do it, then the best way I found was doing MBBS. Moreover, there were many signs from Allah Almighty that pointed me towards my real goal. I can’t explain all of them in words but maybe someday I will explain. But One thing I want to say is that my real goal is not MBBS. It is something bigger than that, but this is just a first step.
So, the conclusion of all this debate is that, I utilized one extra year of my life because I was passionate about MBBS, and I was passionate about MBBS because I love human and it’s a part of my long journey.

Question 6: Is MBBS is your own choice or family influenced you?

Answer: It’s totally my own choice. It’s my own dream.

Question 7: Was it your own choice to repeat or someone else?

Answer: Yes, to repeat MDCAT was totally my own choice. In fact, I fought for it. My family forced me to take admission in any other degree and to live an easy life. But I stood for my dream. I never gave up. I asked them to give me a second chance to prove myself again.

Question 8: why didn’t you opt for other fields even after the first failure?

Answer: Actually “Winners never quit, and quitters never win”. I could not give up after my failure. Because, my belief is that failure is the 1st step towards success. I can compromise for my dream, but I can not compromise on my dream.

Question 9: How much time a repeater student gives to his study?

Answer: A repeater student has a lot of time. He can study as much as he can. But, I will advise them to also give to co-curricular activities and their hobbies if any. Because in the end you would be exhausted.

Question 10: what are the difference b/w fresh fsc student life and Repeater students?

Answer: A fresh student is usually unaware of the reality of MDCAT, and tricks and techniques to study in MDCAT. He usually considers fsc and MDCAT as the same things and that leads him to failure.

Question 11: what type of pressure did you felt during the repeat year?

Answer: There was a huge pressure on my. The pressure of failure, the pressure of my own decisions, the pressure of my own dreams, and the pressure of my own expectations. In this previous year, there was not a single day, there was not a single hour, there was not a single minute in which I did not think about my dream.

Question 12: How did your friends and family treat you in the repeat year?

Answer: That’s the most problematic and most challenging thing for an MDCAT repeater, loneliness. Yes, this is a time of loneliness. You have no friend, you have no one with whom you can share your emotions and your loneliness.
The behaviour of my family was quite unexpected for me. They criticized my decision of repeat. But, by the time they realized that I will not quit, and I will do anything to achieve my goal, then they stopped opposing me.

There was a time when I used to have a lot of friends, but in this year I lost most of them. Many people were exposed. It’s a reality that this world is very selfish. They remember you as long as they think that they can get benefit from you.
Remember my words, if you are going to repeat MDCAT, you will lose even your best friends and those who pretend to be your well-wishers.

In this year only your loyal friends will support you, will care for you and will motivate you. But, the number of such friends is usually very low, usually two or three.
Luckily, I had about 3-4 such loyal friends. I will not mention their names here, but I want to say thanks to them.

Question 13: How did you handle social stress?

Answer: Yes, that’s also a very important question. Your loneliness leads you towards social stress, especially if you were a social person in the past.
I myself was very social and friendly in the past, but this “year” broke my heart and my soul.
But, luckily I found a way to overcome it. I made myself active on social media. I made my Facebook page i.e. https://www.facebook.com/usmanwrites13 . I started making memes and other funny content. In addition, I also kept making other type of content, but when my content brings a smile on the faces of other people, that’s the happiest feeling for me.

I learned many skills in this time for example freelancing, graphic designing, video editing, and creative writing. Even I started writing a book. It is not complete yet, but inshaAllah in the future I will publish it.
All these things helped me a lot in overcoming social stress, because I made a friendship with myself and my own laptop.

Question 14: what mistakes a fresh student make?

Answer: A fresh student makes a lot of mistakes. I will try to list some of them below:
1- A fresh student keeps cramming his book just like fsc
2-A fresh student try to consult useless books and prefer them over text books
3-Many fresh students solve their daily academic test by unfair means. They think that by claiming full by full marks in their class will get them admitted in MBBS, but that’s not true. The marks you get in your daily tests don’t matter. You should just keep working on your concepts and that’s the key to success.
4- Most fresh students consider themselves inferior to others because other students claim full marks in their daily tests. I will advise all freshers not to underestimate themselves in any case. Just believe in your self.

Question 15: would you suggest a student to repeat a year? If not then why?

Answer: If you have 1000+ marks in FSc, then you should repeat, otherwise not.

Question 16: would you suggest a student to repeat a year? If yes then why?

Answer: If you have good marks in FSc , than you should repeat MDCAT, because you can get admission in MBBS next year easily.

Question 17: If after giving yourself another chance, you didn’t achieve your Goal the what will you Go for?

Answer: I have got admission in DVM in UAF, but I don’t think that, even if I could not get admission in MBBS, I would be able to do it. But, still I know, I will have to do it because I can’t afford private MBBS.

Question 18: Is Admission to MBBS possible by just hard work?

Answer: Disagree

Question 19: Is Admission to MBBS possible by Luck?

Answer: Strongly disagree
