How the MDCAT Aggregate Is Calculated (2026 Formula)
Your aggregate (also called your merit score) combines three results. Each is converted into a percentage and then multiplied by its weightage:

This weightage is written into the UHS Lahore MBBS/BDS admission policy for Punjab public colleges and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa admission policy 2025-26 run by KMU. MDCAT carries half the weight, so a few extra MDCAT marks move your merit much more than extra FSc or Matric marks.
Worked example
Say a student has 1050/1100 in Matric, 1000/1100 in FSc and 150/180 in MDCAT:
- Matric: 1050 ÷ 1100 × 10 = 9.5455
- FSc: 1000 ÷ 1100 × 40 = 36.3636
- MDCAT: 150 ÷ 180 × 50 = 41.6667
- Aggregate = 9.5455 + 36.3636 + 41.6667 = 87.5758%

How Much Aggregate Do You Need?
Merit changes every year with the number of candidates and seats. In the 2025-26 session, the final open-merit closing aggregates for Punjab public MBBS colleges were roughly 93% to 96%, with King Edward Medical University at the top. BDS seats, private medical colleges and some other provinces closed lower.
As a rough guide:
- 93%+: competitive for public-sector MBBS in Punjab
- 85–93%: good chances in private MBBS, public BDS and some other-province public colleges
- Below 85%: consider private BDS, DPT, Pharm-D, nursing and allied health programs, or plan a re-attempt
